Updates!  7/23/08 - New News! New Pictures!

News
7.23.08  Hey guys!  I hope all is well. We're playing this Saturday night at The Wooden Nickel in Ennis, TX. It will be a memorable night (the place is kinda crazy… in a good way) so make the drive down if you can. We'll go on after 10:00 and play till 2AM. Hope to see you there!  By the way, I posted some pictures of the acoustic performance Dave and I gave at the Times Ten Cellars on the photos page.  Speaking of the Times Ten Cellars, Dave has been speaking with them about hosting a monthly performance night. We'll keep you posted.  Album update - The album has been sent to Carl Saff in Chicago to be mastered. We should get it back in mid-August. - Kevin

6.16.08  Hello Amigo's and Amiga's!  Well, it's finally time to kick start the engine that is Eastwood. We'll start with a few acoustic shows to warm things up (listed below), then we'll rev up the full band and start melting some faces again with the power that is Eastwood. Wait… a full band you ask? Yes, I can hear your thoughts… it's a gift… and a curse. Well, to answer your mental question, you're going to start seeing a new face or two in the Eastwood camp. "Whom?" you asked again (remember I have that gift thingy). I'll leave the details for my next poetic band message. I'm a tease, I know, but I don't want to let out all of my secrets just yet!

Our first acoustic show will be this Thursday evening (June 19th) at the Lakewood Bar & Grill. Dave and I will be playing with our old buddy John Priest (formerly of Smokewagon 44). He'll start around 7:00pm and we'll go on around 8:00 and play about an hour or so. It will be an early night for all of you so don't be scared.

Dave and I will be back in the Lakewood area the following Wednesday evening (June 25th) at Ten Times Cellars for a show benefiting the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. They have great wine and incredible music (That'd be us). Come chill out and help raise money for a great cause. Another early night, we'll play from 6:30 till around 9:30.

The full band shows are currently being set up, but one that I can tell you about is at the infamous Wooden Nickel in Ennis, TX. You may have heard this placed described on 1310 The Ticket as the 'United Nations of Drunks'. It truly needs to be experienced to be believed and, luckily, they love us there. Mark July 26th on your travel calendars!

The album mixing is going well. It should be done in the next couple of weeks, with a release date (hopefully) late this summer. Can you feel the buzz of excitement? I can… but that could be the drinks I had a lunch… or the cell phone setting deep in my front pocket set on vibrate. Anyway, come out and see us! It's been a while since I've given you an inappropriate hug! - Kevin

5.08.08 What up my peeps?!? It's been awhile since I last rapped at ya. The 'Man' has been keeping me down, what can I say? But, I have good news to share with you today. We finished recording the 12th and final song for our new CD! It's taken a long time and we are very hoppy sited that we are finally seeing the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. From here, we go into mixing and mastering. Then... we'll probably be wined and dined by all of the big record labels. I'm sure a bidding war will ensue. That will take months of dinners, meeting and flights to fancy locales. But, in the end, we'll keep it Eastwood real. Yeah, I said it, weren't not scared to thumb our nose at the establishment and turn down millions of dollars to stay here in our Eastwood hood with you. That's just how we roll. Word. Anyway, we'll keep you updated as to the progress of the mess and, hopefully, you will see our faces on a stage near you very soon! Kevin

3.04.08  Hello!  We've been hard at work in the studio.  Things are progressing very well.  I've been promising an update for a while.  Well, I've done one better, a video snapshot of the last few sessions.  It is on the left side of this page (It's also on our MySpace page).  Turn off the music player at the bottom of this site so you can hear the audio from the clip.  You'll see a few special guests we've had join the sessions as well as our own very ruggedly handsome mugs.  I hope you enjoy it.  They'll be more to come and, hopefully, the lighting will be better next time!  Rock on - Kevin

1.08.08  Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. We’ve got a show this Saturday night down at Club Dada. This bill on this one will be pretty interesting. First of all, we get to play the first slot (around 9PM) so you early birds can see the show and be back in bed by 11 if you need! But, for you more adventurous types who enjoy a more bluegrassy (I think I just invented a new adjective?) type of twang, the acts that follow us should be right up your alley. The Whiskey Folk Ramblers and Telegraph Canyon; They are very good. Lots of acoustic instruments, mandolins, stand up bass, etc.

New Album News: We get back in the studio this Thursday night with recording dates scattered throughout the month. I’ll keep you updated and maybe even give you a sneak peek down the road… if you’re nice! Miss Jackson if you're nasty.  Take it easy - Kevin

12.14.07  Happy Holidays everyone!  Check out the blog page for some new news and updates.  Rock on - Kevin

11.20.07  First of all, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a great Turkey day. We will be following our family tradition once again this year with shots of Wild Turkey 101 and a round of golf at 9:00AM Thanksgiving morning. We’re Irish, what can I say?

We are no longer playing this Saturday night at Dada. Evidently, the headliner’s management wanted an all female lineup… which is kinda hot. We offered to play in drag… but that idea was rejected for some strange reason. Well no biggie. Sometimes these last minute things can’t be helped. But, if you want to hear a great up and coming young country singer, go on out and catch Marren Morris’ set. She’s got some great tunes.

Well, we finally get back into the studio this next Wednesday. Needless to say we’re chomping at the bit. We’ve got a ton of new songs written that we think you’re gonna dig. We’ll update the site with pictures and news from the studio as things progress.  Take it easy - Kevin

10.31.07  Happy Halloween! The night the goblins come out, drink all of your liquor and mess up your yard… or what I like to call a regular Wednesday night.

Get ready for some bragging and name dropping. Dave and I got to hang in the recording studio with the Old 97's the other night (Well… at least one the 97's) and were given the chance to preview a few of their new songs. Now, I'm a little biased, but I must say they were frickin' awesome! Classic Old 97's sound but with a new, modern, psychedelic twist. I'm hoping a little of this awesomeness rubs off on our recording sessions which will slowly begin again the first of December.

SHOW THIS SATURDAY - This Saturday night we're playing down in Ennis, TX at a place called The Wooden Nickel. Come down and join us if you can. What else do you have going on?!?!   Take it easy! - Kevin

10.16.07 What it do hombres and hombrettes?!?!  We're playing our old home base, Aparicio's, this Saturday night.  From what I'm hearing, Mr. Aparicio is setting up an outdoor stage to accomodate the crowd and to take advantage of this nice cool weather.  Come enjoy a night of music under the stars... I almost said that phrase with out giggling!  Hope to see you there! - Kevin

10.03.07 Hey guys it's Kevin... yes, yes THE Kevin from the incredibly handsome and world famous band Eastwood. Please hold your applause. Thank you. It's been awhile since I last rapped at ya. I've been asked by many people, "When is your next show? When is the new album going to be ready? Why were you staying at Owen Wilson's apartment this summer? Please pull over and put your hands behind you head." Well, it's been a busy summer. We recorded 4 new songs (which are posted at www.myspace.com/eastwoodmusic ) when we hit some snags. We decided to hold off playing any late summer shows so we could concentrate on writing and recording new material (and so the rest of the band could go to rehab... I said no, no, no). The new songs are flowing like wine now, which is good... but the recording schedule has been delayed.  Our genius producer, Salim Nourallah (who just won Best Producer at the DOMA awards for the 3rd year in a row), just returned from his tour over in Europe. Hopefully we'll get back in the studio in mid-October but... we'll be fighting for time with the Old 97's, who'll be recording their new album with Salim also. I think we could easily take them in a fight so recording shouldn't be a problem! Hopefully we'll be done recording by the end of the year.  That's it! You are now updated!

05.30.07 Two more new songs have been posted on the MySpace page:  "Let Me Be Your Man" and "Big Blue Sky".  Check'em out!!

04.27.07 We've posted another new song on the MySpace page called Not Too Late...  Take a listen and let us know what you think!!!

03.29.07 We've been off for a while recording, but we'll be dusting off the instruments on April 7th at Aparicio's in McKinney.  Come on out and welcome in our new drummer, Matt Hunt.  We are also bringing our new friends, Charlie & the Lonesome Losers.  You will love these guys, so make sure that you get there before 8:30pm.  See everyone there!!

02.22.07 Eastwood has just been invited to open for the great Bruce Robison on Saturday (2/24) at Poor David's Pub.  You don't want to miss this show!!

02.16.07 Check out the new song, "Right Place Wrong Time", on the Eastwood MySpace page!!!  Let us know what you think!

02.05.07 Eastwood is going into the studio for much of February to work on the follow up to "Die Tryin". But keep checking back, as we'll probably fit in a couple of gigs here and there. On another note, Eastwood will be trying out drummers in attempt to fill Kent's old dirty shoes. If you have any interest or know any good drummers please email us.

Thanks for your support!!

12.15.06 Our LIVE preformance on KNON is now uploaded to the site in the Music section. Please check out Kevin and Dave playing acoustic with the great DJ Obie.

10.16.06 Sad news:  Kent (and family) has decided to move and will therefore be leaving the band.  He will be moving to North Dakota (we know, what is he thinking?? it's colder than hell up there ;-) ) in order to be closer to family, and so that Kent can pursue his other love... pheasant hunting.  Since joining us nearly a year ago, Kent has been the rock that solidified us as a band and he will be dearly missed.  But we wish him luck, and hope to run across him down the road... er, on the road.  Kent's last show with Eastwood will be our Halloween show on October 28th at Aparicio's, so come on out and give him your fairly wells.  In the meantime, you will more than likely see a temporary beat-keeper or two with us until we can find a more permanent one to fill the very large shoes that Kent has left open.

10.2.06 Thanks to everyone for your support Thursday night at the Shiner Rising Star semifinals!  Although we didn't move on, we definitely "felt the love" from everyone there.

7.10.06 Shiner Rising Star update - Our performance in the first round of the Shiner Rising Star competition will take place Thursday, August 31 at Suede on lower Greenville. The showcase will begin at 8pm, and will feature three artists/bands performing 40 minutes each. Although the performances are judged by a panel, we feel that audience favor can only help us. So, come out and support Eastwood, as well as the other two artists (Sam Anderson & Christen Cross)!! We'd love to see everyone there.

7.9.06 Unfortunately, Lance will not be with us this Wednesday (7/12) at our Club Dada performance. While Lance is irreplaceable in our eyes, we will have a very special guest sitting in with us. Ken Bethea, guitarist for the Old 97's, will join us this Wednesday for our set, which will begin sometime after 9pm. Come on out and welcome Ken!!

6.30.06 Eastwood has been selected as one of 24 final artists/bands in the Shiner Rising Star contest. Over the next few months, showcases of all 24 acts will be held locally to determine the winner. As we receive more information, we will pass it along...
